Brief Introduction
Anhui University of Science and Technology (AUST) is a provincial key university jointly administrated by Anhui Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management, P.R.C.. It is supported by the Ministry of Education’s “Education Program of Outstanding Engineers” project and by the National Central and Western University’s Basic Capacity Building Project. AUST has Huainan Campus and Hefei Campus, both having beautiful environment, well furnished dorms and sophisticated teaching equipment.
Huainan Campus, covering an area of nearly 530 acres, is located in Huainan City, the famous energy city in China and the birthplace of Chinese tofu, and has very convenient transportation to the major cities in the country; Hefei Campus, covering an area of more than 110 acres, is located in Hefei City, the capital city of Anhui Province, which is the important national scientific research and education base, the modern manufacturing base and the comprehensive transportation hub. Founded in 1945, AUST is the first university of engineering in Anhui Province. The university now has more than 4500 faculty and staff, including more than 1000 with senior titles, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 12 state-level talents, 34 professors supported by the State Council’s special government allowance, and over 80 provincial and ministerial level talents. Additionally, over 400 high-level experts and scholars from other universities or institutes are employed as adjunct professors.
The university has 2 national Huang Danian teacher teams, 5 “115” industrial innovation teams, and 8 province-level leading talent teams. AUST is composed of 23 Schools and Departments and an affiliated hospital, offering 34 doctoral degree programs, 113 master degree programs and 77 bachelor degree programs. There are 1 Class I peak discipline, 5 Class III peak disciplines and 3 peak cultivation disciplines in Anhui Province.
In the fifth round of national discipline evaluation, 8 disciplines were listed,of which Safety Science and Engineering was A-, the only A-class discipline in Anhui Province. It has developed a coordinated system of engineering, science, medicine, management, literature, economics, law, and art while focusing on engineering, characterized by disciplines such as safety science and engineering, advanced manufacturing, geology and mining, and blasting.
In AUST, the current enrollment is more than 33,000 full-time undergraduate students, and more than 6,600 postgraduate students and international students.
AUST now has 20 state-level first-class majors construction, 9 majors certified by the Ministry of Education in engineering education, 6 state-level characterized majors, 4 national pilot programs for comprehensive majors reform, 4 state-level first-class courses, quality courses and other courses, 1 state-level teaching team, 1 state-level talent training mode innovation experimental area, 1 state-level experimental teaching demonstration center. 5 national engineering practice education centers.
It has 49 national and provincial research platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Deep Coal Safe Ming and Environment Protection, the State Key Laboratory of Mining-induced Response and Disaster Prevention and Control in Deep Coal Mines, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Safe and Precise Coal Mining, the Provincial and Ministerial Collaborative Innovation Center for Intelligent Mining Technology and Equipment and the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Industrial Dust Control and Occupational Safety and Health.
AUST continuously expands international cooperation and exchanges, and has established long-term and stable international cooperative relations with more than 60 universities and research institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Poland, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea and other countries.
Currently, international students from 32 countries are now studying for their doctoral and master’s degrees.
